70 FOLLOWERS AT EX-WORSHIP CENTRE PASTOR’S NEW CHURCH
NHLANGANO – Erstwhile Nhlangano Worship Centre cleric Pastor Johnson Ojo is picking up the pieces after being relieved of his leadership position at his former church about 15 months ago.
The man of God, who was relieved from his duties at the Worship Centre for what was described as failure to amass an impressive number of followers and the inability of his branch to generate enough income for the church’s growth, has spent the past few months preaching the word of God to dozens of worshippers who moved out with him to form a new church – the Amazing Grace Bible church, which has about 70 followers to date.
Of note is that ever since he broke away from the Worship centre, the clergyman chose to strike a different note from his previous masters with his decision not to pay particular attention to the numerical growth of his newly-established church. Rather, Ojo described his new church as a ministry that was primarily concerned about changing the lives of people.
Speaking during an interview after the celebration of the resurrection of Christ on Sunday, the pastor said in the church they were mostly focused on helping ordinary people to get a leg on their spiritual life so that they may realise the blessings that God has in store for them.
The clergyman said the number of worshippers flocking into his church does not really matter. He believes the focal point should be at growing the relationship between the individual and God. “The main issue is the spiritual growth of the worshippers. Even if it can be one person, the numbers in the church don’t really matter,” he said.
This stance by the man of the cloth was also consonant with his Easter message, where he urged the congregants to stop blaming others for not making it in life. Instead, he implored the worshippers to do an introspection in order to find out the things that impede on their successes. “Christ died in order for us to enjoy all the blessings for which he sacrificed for. His resurrection is not only for us to talk about but it is for everyone to benefit from the event. We should all strive to get our own portion of the blessings emanating from the resurrection of Christ,” he said.
He told the congregation that the problem withholding people from success was their inability to realise how one was supposed to benefit from Christ’s blessings. He said so long as people remained ignorant of the things that obstruct their blessings, they would continue blaming others for their misfortunes. “If you want to know about the power of resurrection, then read the bible and start searching. He (Christ) has blessings for everyone,” the pastor assured the gathering.
