TEXTILE WORKER COLLAPSES, DIES
MANZINI – Sorrow engulfed textile workers as they witnessed their colleague collapse at work and later received news that she died while being rushed to hospital.
The incident took place in one of the textile factories in Matsapha yesterday at around 2pm. A well-informed source from the hospital said there were suspicions that the worker was asthmatic and could have suffered an attack. He said on the day, the employee had not shown any signs of sickness as even during lunch-time she never complained about any sickness to her friends.
He said at around 2pm, she went to the toilet and came back complaining about pain in the left side of her chest. It was gathered that at that moment she also called one of her family members that she was not feeling well but they took it lightly. After a while, the woman is said to have started panting and suddenly she collapsed while trying to notify her immediate supervisors about her situation. She was rushed to an internal clinic where upon arrival, the nurses recommended that she be rushed to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital as the sickness was complex and severe.
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS), who are widely known as paramedics, were called but they experienced delays. The company organised another car to rush her to the hospital where she was certified dead upon arrival. This was also confirmed by the hospitals’ documents.
At the time of compiling this report, the Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba said they were not aware of the matter.
