MBABANE – “I did not commit any of them,” the bogus princess said of the 36 counts of theft by false pretences she has been charged with.

Bekezeli Patience Gama (29) of Mafutseni under Chief Ngalonkulu is currently languishing in custody after allegedly conning job seekers a sum of E143 130.
She has filed an application for bail in the High Court in which she stated that she will tender a plea of not guilty when the matter goes to trial.

Gama also denied having any relations with the people she is alleged to have been working with in committing the offences.
The authenticity of these allegations is yet to be tested in court. Gama is represented by Bongani Phakathi of Masina Mzizi Attorneys. The suspect said there were sufficient grounds warranting the court to release her on bail since the police have completed their investigations.

She said if the court granted her bail, she would not interfere with Crown witnesses especially because she does not have a summary of evidence with a list of witnesses. Gama further informed the court that she is a sickly person and her continued incarceration would worsen her condition. She told the court that there was no prejudice to be suffered by the Crown if she would be released from custody because she will not endanger public safety.

The suspect is alleged to have presented herself as one of the King’s daughters through a WhatsApp group known as ‘Swazi, all you need is love and fun.’
