MANZINI – The saying ‘hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’ became a reality when a police officer’s wife, carrying a baby, pounced on her husband’s makhwapheni (secret lover) and assaulted her.

The secret lover was assaulted with kicks and fists and also bitten and pulled by her hair by the angry wife.
Delisile Siphiwe Nzima (32), a hawker, told the court that she was in her boyfriend’s house at Sidvokodvo Police Camp sleeping when she heard some noise and saw two women alighting from a vehicle outside; one of whom was the police officer’s wife, who had been carrying the baby.

The police officer, one Mzwandile Nxumalo, was not present when the incident occurred.
“When I checked through the window I realised that the  woman who was carrying a baby was my boyfriend’s wife. I immediately locked the doors and removed the key. After doing so, I placed a wardrobe right at the door so to keep them outside, however, they managed to break the door and enter.”

“It later transpired that she also had her own key. When they eventually entered, they started assaulting me with everything within their reach, including shoes, fists, kicks and  they also bit me and pulled me by my hair. While assaulting me, they insulted me and called me names. Both my cellphones were damaged and I was rescued by other police officers, who called my boyfriend,” the complainant said.
Nzima added that upon arrival, her boyfriend advised her to report the wife to the police as the cellphones were completely damaged and non-functional as they had damaged screens. She said she was taken to the police station then to the RFM Hospital where she was treated and discharged.
