MANZINI – It was ‘pay day’ drama for a civil servant who was allegedly hacked by her lover, demanding that she hands over her pay cheque.

Sipho Khulu (44) of Mgembeni allegedly hacked his lover Nomcebo Mazibuko (40) all over the body with a bush knife, demanding that she gives him part of her salary.

Mazibuko is a Veterinary Assistant under the Ministry of Agriculture in the Manzini office. The incident happened last Friday and started off at the civil servant’s place of employment and later continued at a drinking hole.
Following the attack Mazibuko has been left with gaping wounds on the head, neck, arms, forehead and legs.

The father of her three children is alleged to have first attacked her while she was at her place of employment on the day. “He arrived at my workplace carrying an empty bag of rice which had a bush knife inside. He had covered the bush knife with his jacket.

“I had been previously told that he had been looking for me when I decided to approach him outside my workplace and find out what he wanted. When I eventually asked him about the bush knife inside the plastic bag, he said he would use it to do some repairs in a shelter. He immediately left and said he would wait for me by a bottle store near Mthunyelelwa,” the complainant alleged.

She alleged that after she had knocked off from work, she went to see her lover and again, was told that he had been looking for her.
“I was informed that he was going around sharpening the bush knife and telling people uyohlaba inyamatane- (he was going to slaughter a wild animal).
