MANZINI – Work and other daily activities had to come to halt for some Swazis who arrived as early as 7am at the Old Trade Fair grounds to attend Prophet Bushiri’s 6pm service.

The prophet’s followers were determined to make it to the front of the crowd when the service began. At 2:30pm, there were already about 100 people outside the arena. Evidently prepared for the long wait, some had brought camp chairs, while others were seated on light blankets.

Almost all the people who had gathered outside the arena had what looked like lunch boxes as well as plastic bags from the nearby Spar Supermarket.
They also had much bigger blankets, extra coats and looked ready for the cold.
Others admitted to leaving work early in order to attend the service and joked that if their pictures were seen in any publication, they would be out of jobs.

It, however, seemed job losses would not deter the followers from attending the service.  According to some of the marshals found at the entrance, people had already started queuing by 7am. Some people are said to have arrived in a kombi that delivered them as early as 10am.

One person who came prepared for the night was Gogo Rejoice Howe, who said she believed that she did not need to return to Pretoria for an eye operation because by tomorrow morning, her sight would be restored.
