SCHOOL TEACHER, SECRETARY AND PUPIL IN HORROR CRASH
MANZINI – Pupils from Madlangempisi High School watched in shock as their teacher, secretary and schoolmate miraculously survived a horrific accident on Monday.
The accident, which involved a Honda Fit which was driven by the secretary and a truck which was loaded with bananas, took place just after school on Monday afternoon.
The secretary was travelling together with the teacher and pupil while the truck driver is said to have been alone.
A witness narrated that the secretary was driving from the school towards Madlangempisi business centre when the accident took place. He said when she was joining the main road, the truck came from the opposite direction and found that her view had been blurred by the rays of the sun as her car straddled both lanes.
He said truck tried to avoid what could have been a fatal head-on collision by making a sharp sway to the opposite lane.
“However, he could not avoid hitting the car as the truck rammed into the left side of the secretary’s vehicle before it overturned next to the road,” he narrated.
The source said the secretary and the teacher, who were occupying the driver’s and front seat, respectively, sustained serious injuries while the pupil escaped unhurt.
He said the secretary sustained fractures to her head and thigh while the teacher fractured her left arm.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS), who are widely known as paramedics, were called to the scene together with the police.
