MBABANE – Former Minister Nelisiwe Shongwe allegedly pawned her car to a company which offers shylocking and pawn services for a loan of E12 500.

The erstwhile minister of ICT  has since been taken  to court by Shylock Pawning Services in Manzini, after she allegedly failed to handover the white Nissan Sylph registered ESD 135 CM.

The car, which is now being demanded by the shylock, was reportedly attached by another messenger of the court in a different matter against the former minister, for alleged rent arrears. The company has since obtained an interim order directing Shongwe to release the motor vehicle.

The court further directed that a messenger of the court should seize and attach the motor vehicle from Shongwe.
The police were ordered to assist the messenger of the court in the event he was obstructed from carrying out his duties as per the court order.

The director of the company, Ben Dlamini, stated that on March 13, 2017, they concluded a written pawn agreement with Shongwe under pawn agreement number 806/17.

“After that, Shongwe negotiated not to surrender the motor vehicle since it was her business tool and I acquiesced to her request but required that she surrenders its blue book,” submitted Dlamini.

He informed the court that since the blue book did not reflect Shongwe’s name, she produced a letter from a car dealership company acknowledging that she paid for the car in full.
