MBABANE – A wife must have believed she was dreaming after finding a child (13) who was allegedly raped by her husband hiding under their bed.

The alleged rapist, *Sibusiso is alleged to have not only raped the minor but two others who reside around Ezulwini in 2015.
The matter was up for trial and the girl’s grandmother, Phindile gave her testimony on Sunday.
The alleged rapist’s wife is said to have fished the young girl from under her husband’s bed after the minor’s uncle came searching for her, after neighbours had told him they had seen her in Sibusiso’s company.
Phindile said she came back home on November 9, 2015 and met her granddaughter leaving their home at Mlindazwe.

On enquiry, the 13-year-old girl allegedly told Phindile that she was going to visit her (Phindile) mother-in-law who stays around the same area.
While sitting under a tree, she noticed her mother-in-law leaving her home and she wondered where her granddaughter was going since there was no one at the homestead she had said she was visiting.
Out of suspicion, she allegedly called the house helper and asked her where *Nokwanda was going since the person she had alleged to be visiting had left home. The helper had no idea as well.
As day turned to night, Nokwanda is said to have not returned home. Phindile is a teacher at the school where her granddaughter attends.

On the following day, she sent some pupils to call the 13-year-old but she refused and continued watering the school garden. On that day, she was said to have not returned home once again and did this for three consecutive nights. Not knowing what was going on with her granddaughter, Phindile called her uncle *Vusi who immediately went to search for the child while she went to report the matter to the police.
Vusi’s investigations led him to a homestead the child was reported to frequent which belonged to one *Mandla.
Mandla allegedly informed Vusi that Nokwanda had visited them but left in the company of Sibusiso, who had offered to accompany her to another relative’s place.

During her testimony, Phindile revealed that she knew Sibusiso and considered him to be a brother as they shared a surname, and would regularly visit to help her with chores around her home.
On the fateful day, Vusi then called Phindile to inform her about Nokwanda being last seen with Sibusiso.  His visit to the suspect’s home opened a can of worms no one had anticipated. The minor was allegedly found by Sibusiso’s wife shoved under the bed in a bid to hide her.
