ONE DEAD, 3 CRITICAL AFTER CAR OVERTURNS AT ELANGENI

MBABANE – One man was killed on the spot and three are critical after an accident which happened near Elangeni yesterday.

The vehicle they wee travelling in, a Honda SRV, which had four passengers on board and one of them was a female, was headed towards the Manzini direction and it is suspected they were from Mbabane.
This accident happened at around lunchtime yesterday when the vehicle veered off the road and overturned several times for a distance of about 100 metres before it came to a stop.
Those who were present at the scene stated that the deceased, who was occupying the passenger’s seat next to the driver, was left in the vehicle for some time alone while people attended to the survivors.

It could not be ascertained at the time what caused the accident as the Lobamba police had to rush the three who were in too much pain and unable to talk, to Mbabane Government Hospital.
Some people who were driving by when the accident happened assumed the driver failed to negotiate a corner as the vehicle was allegedly driving at a high speed.
The names and ages of the other occupants could not be obtained as the police had not recorded a statement with them and the name of the deceased could not be released since his next off- kin had not been informed.
Superintendent Khulani Mamba, the Chief Police Information and Communications Officer, confirmed the accident.
“There are ongoing investigations on what could have caused the accident. One of the passengers died on the spot and the other three were rushed to hospital,” Mamba stated.
