ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR MLANDVO’S ALLEGED KILLER
PIGG’S PEAK – After being granted bail of E50 000, Zakhele Ndlela, who stands accused of the alleged murder of Mlandvo Dlamini, could find himself behind bars again.
A warrant of his apprehension has been issued after he failed to show up for a remand before a magistrate.
Ndlela was supposed to appear before the magistrate on October 4, 2017 but he did not show up.
Suspects who are granted bail at the high court normally have to appear before a magistrate pending committal to the high court. Ndlela has been charged with the murder of Mlandvo, who was a Form V pupil at Mhlatane High School. He is currently out on E50 000 bail, which includes E5 000 cash component while the E45 000 is surety. A police officer identified as Lucky Mahlalela stood as surety for the balance of the bail amount.
The teenager had just turned 18 years old four days before the alleged murder. Ndlela is alleged to have battered Mlandvo using a tap rod, causing serious injury to his head.
The incident is said to have happened on September 23, 2017, after Mlandvo was allegedly found in a compromising position with Ndlela’s wife, Simangele Ndzabandzaba.
Ndlela is alleged to have called the police after the incident, however they arrived only to find that Mlandvo had already died.
The veracity of these allegations is yet to be tested before court as the matter is still pending.
