MBABANE – While speculations go the rounds in social media networks, a prominent Mbabane socialite’s whereabouts remain a mystery.

On Monday, a contingent of police officers descended on the socialite’s home and raided it for hours collecting what appeared to be evidence which could assist the police in solving the case of slain businessman and football administrator Victor Gamedze.
According to sources, as was the case on the day police went to the socialite’s home, he was still not there yesterday. They said after he disappeared without any trace, he did not return to his house where he reportedly stays with his family. Some sources said they last saw him on Monday morning while others said they last saw him about three to four days ago.

Yesterday there were no police officers at his home when reporters went past the residence. There was also no movement of any other people within the compound.
Noticeably, the red VW Polo that was parked inside the compound yesterday, and was reportedly driven away by a female, who was in the company of a police officer, was not there even yesterday.
Sources stated that they saw the socialite’s children boarding a motor vehicle that presumably drove them to school.

They said they did not notice any other person at the home and were not sure if the woman who drove the red vehicle yesterday returned to sleep at the house.
When some community police, who will not be mentioned because of the sensitivity of the matter, were asked about what they knew about the matter, they said they did not know anything.
They said the police had not engaged them or sought their assistance in terms of apprehending anyone in the area. They wondered how they would be of help to the police if they were left in the dark.
“If only they informed us that they were looking for him, we might have helped,” said a community police.

They stressed that they would, however, do their job of guarding against crime in the area and keep an eye on any suspicious activities. They said they saw the police at the socialite’s home on Monday but did not know what was going on as they were not roped in.

They then mourned Gamedze’s death and said it was a tragedy as he was helpful to the country at large.
