MANZINI – A man of the cloth is alleged to have lured former Ludzidzini Indvuna, the late Timothy ‘TV’ Mtetwa’s eldest son to death by hanging him near Mkhondvo River banks.

After being baffled for a week about his whereabouts, the Mtetwa clan allegedly received information on Saturday that Reverend Petrus Lindimpi Mtetwa (68) had been found murdered. A suspect is already in police custody. The suspect is said to be a popular prophet from around the area where the incident happened, who claims that Reverend Mtetwa had come to consult and seek cleansing from him.

Mtetwa had been reported missing by the police last Tuesday.
Police are said to have come across the man now suspected to have killed Mtetwa driving his vehicle, a new maroon Mazda sedan registered TSD 657 CM near Sidvokodvo. This was after they had allegedly received a tip off from unknown people that the reverend’s car was being driven by someone near the place.

According to the Mtetwa clan’s spokesperson, Mathokoza Mtetwa, the reverend went missing last Monday on January 22, 2018 after he left home during the early hours of the day and said he was headed for Logoba to visit his cousin.
In a statement released by the family, it is stated that family members, including the reverend’s wife, LaGule were initially not worried when he did not return on the same night, despite that he was not used to sleeping out.

“It was on Tuesday afternoon that his wife started panicking and immediately called the Lobamba police and senior members of the family as both his cellphones had been switched off. The police advised her to report to the police station to record statements on the Wednesday, if the reverend did not return home. The cousin whom the reverend said he was visiting when contacted confirmed that he saw him on the day, however, they later drove together to Manzini and the reverend dropped him off at Logoba later,” the statement read.

The statement further reads that the last phone call Reverend Mtetwa made to his wife of 41-years was received at around 6:18pm on Monday, where he is said to have revealed that he was at Mkhondvo but on his way back home.
“Whoever intercepted him along the way, God knows because he never arrived home,” the statement written by the Mtetwa clan reads.

The reverend who was also the director of an investment company, Ecsponent Limited, situated at The Gables is suspected to have been murdered on Monday night as when his body was dug up from a shallow grave at the banks of Mkhondvo River yesterday morning, it was showing signs of being decomposed. “The police found the reverend’s vehicle being driven by the suspect on Saturday, who is a prophet in a church believed to be part of the Red Gown Sect.  When the police came across the vehicle at Sidvokodvo, the suspect was stopped and it was discovered that he was with two other occupants. After the police had introduced themselves, the suspect was taken to the police station together with his occupants where they were all interrogated. The occupants were later released by the police.
