30 POSTS FOR HEAD TEACHERS, DEPUTIES
MBABANE – It’s time for aspirant head teachers and deputy head teachers to finally have their wishes come true.
This follows that the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) announced a combined 30 promotions. This was confirmed by the TSC Chairman Simanga Mamba yesterday.
Mamba said the open vacancies were as a result of those who had retired or passed away. He stated that their first step was employing temporary teachers in a bid to strengthen the education system. He also said in some schools; additional classes had to be constructed as the number of pupils had increased. Mamba shared that there were 11 vacancies for deputy head teachers and 19 for head teachers’ vacancies available.
Most of the former posts are in the Shiselweni Region (five) while only one is in the Lubombo Region. He said the application forms were available at regional education offices and the application deadline was March 2, 2018.
The TSC chairman said for one to qualify for the head teacher position they needed to have been a deputy head teacher for at least three years. He said they should also have academic qualifications namely; Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education (Leadership), Bachelor’s Degree in Education Management, Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education and Bachelor’s Honours Degree. Teachers who have served for at least seven years in the country qualify for the position of deputy head teacher. The two positions require the same academic qualifications.
Mamba applauded that there were no reported cases of teachers misbehaving and thanked head teachers for the good working relationship they had with them.
He said they submitted declaration forms from as early as last November. Mamba warned against corruption and giving money to people who promised teachers promotions.
