SWAZI SECRETS PRODUCTS GO GLOBAL

HLANE – What started just as a dream for Her Majesty the Indlovukazi some years ago has quickly transformed into a global phenomenon.

That’s the story of Swazi Secrets, a women empowerment enterprise which produces several products from marula nut, which is sourced from the native marula plant.
The company, which is based at Mpaka near Siteki town, has tapped into online shopping so that its products can also be procured through online shopping platforms.

This will definitely boost the company’s market share, its brand and further open doors to new markets because of the massive exposure it will get from internet shopping.
The company management has explained that it decided to sell its products online because of the growing demand worldwide, especially in the USA and European markets.

Businessman Ian Madonsela, who recently invested into the Swazi Secrets initiative, has revealed that all the products of the company would soon be available on some of the leading online shopping sites in the next couple of weeks.
He spoke to this reporter on the side-lines of the marula (buganu) ceremony, held at Hlane Royal residence over the weekend, where Swazi Secrets was exhibiting its products.
“The most important thing now is that we will use the internet platform, which is the e-commerce platform because most retail shops are struggling, because of the internet. This will be launched in the next coming weeks on the internet worldwide,” he stated.

He added that the demand for Swazi Secrets products had increased, especially in countries like Russia and in the cold regions of the world.
“They like it (marula oil) in the cold places because it helps them during heatwaves. The marula oil has vitamin E and that is why it is called the miracle oil,” added Madonsela.
He said they were currently negotiating with some of the leading suppliers who specialise in online shopping but he did not divulge the companies.

“They want the product into their warehouses so that they can supply it. This is going to be big,” he stated.
He further added that although they had ventured into online shopping, all their products would still be available in retail shops and pharmacies in the country and in neighbouring ones.

He said while the company ventured into new heights, the women at the centre of the whole project would also benefit. He confidently stated that there would be impressive financial returns for the women who supply the marula nut.
 “Previously, the women would crack the nuts and supply us until July but they are now supplying for the whole year,” said Madonsela.
According to its website, Swazi secrets is a “social enterprise dedicated to the eradication of poverty and economic empowerment of women.’’
