NKOSI SIKELELA IAFRICA TEACHER FIRED
MBABANE – The TSC has dismissed the teacher who once ordered primary school pupils to sing Nkosi Sikelela iAfrica.
TSC is an acronym of Teaching Service Commission.
Bhekisisa Ndlangamandla, who was a teacher at Ntfonjeni National Primary School has been dismissed for among other offences, absenteeism and insubordination. His dismissal, according to a letter written by TSC Executive Secretary Mduduzi Nkambule, was with effect from March 1, 2018.
The commission further informed Ndlangamandla to vacate a school house within seven days, in the event he was occupying one.
In its ruling the lawyer Simanga Mamba-led commission said the evidence that was brought before it clearly showed that Ndlangamandla was a troublesome person.
“The message should be clear that there is no room for insubordination, non-preparation and absenteeism in the teaching profession. The commission expresses its disapproval of such conduct from teachers,” said the TSC.
The TSC mentioned that the exhibited level of insubordination showed that Ndlangamandla was not fit and proper to be part of the teaching service because he failed to obey reasonable instructions from his supervisor.
“Insubordination is a serious offence and is unacceptable in the workplace because it results into actual work stoppage in the school. The education system in the school becomes hamstrung,” observed the commission.
The commission pointed out that as a result of Ndlangamandla’s actions, many innocent young souls were deprived their constitutional right to learn.
“Further absenteeism disturbs smooth running of the school and effective teaching and learning,” added the commission.
