NTSHANINI – Yet another woman has added to the statistics of gender-based violence after she was allegedly killed and her body further stuffed under shrubs by her boyfriend.

The suspect, who is believed to be in his 30s, was employed as a herdsman at a homestead situated next to that of the deceased, Nonduduzo Shongwe (29), around Ntshanini.

He was detained by the police on Monday, after the woman was reported missing by relatives.
He later confessed to stabbing the woman several times all over the body before dumping her body in bushes located close to the banks of Ntshanini River, about 33km  south-east of Hlatikhulu.

The man allegedly opened up after detectives paid him a visit at Madonsa, in Manzini, where he had sought refuge with a sibling.
After intense questioning, the man is alleged to have led investigators to the gruesome scene where he had dumped the body yesterday morning.

During interrogation, the man is alleged to have admitted to killing his girlfriend after he suspected her of cheating on him. This was allegedly after he caught her on the way to meet another man who had just alighted from a kombi, on Thursday afternoon.
The latter is employed in one of the kombis servicing the area.

It was alleged that Shongwe and the suspect met by sheer coincidence while the woman was on her way to the bus stop to meet the man believed to be her newly found love.

Along the way, the suspect allegedly overheard her responding to a phone call asking if someone had alighted from a kombi, saying she was almost at the bus station.
