4 PUPILS, KOMBI DRIVER KILLED IN TRUCK COLLISION
MBABANE - Four pupils and their driver died tragically yesterday when their kombi was involved in a head-on collision with a truck.
According to information sourced by this publication, the accident happened along the Manzini/Bhunya road in the portion between Montigyn and the police turn off.
The schools the pupils were from could not be ascertained but according to witnesses they were from different schools around the area.
The head-on collision is said to have happened when a hoarse and trail truck that was ferrying logs from Montigny tried to avert another truck that was on the road.
It is said while averting the stationery truck, the kombi was hit head on by the hoarse and trail truck.
Executive Director of Montigny, Andrew Le Roux said the whole community was shocked by the accident. He said from what he had gathered was that four pupils had died and the driver of the kombi who was ferrying them.
Another three pupils were reported to have been rushed to hospital in critical condition. He said the company would meet the family of the deceased to mourn and discuss how they could assist.
Also, confirming the accident was Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Phindile Vilakati.
She said there were four pupils who died and the driver of the kombi. Vilakati said the driver was aged 36.
She said the conductor was taken to the Mbabane Government Hospital, after he fractured both legs. She said three pupils died on the scene of the accident while one of them died at the Mankayane Government Hospital.
In another accident recently, eight people were killed after a truck belonging to the Swaziland Electricity Company collided with a public transport vehicle around Motshane.
