PIGG’S PEAK – An amusement park is a rare opportunity for local children, who admittedly said they normally played in trees or pushed each other on abandoned supermarket trolleys.

However, this past weekend presented that rare opportunity, courtesy of Minister Jabulani ‘Buy Cash’ Mabuza, who presented 300 children with free tickets to ride in any of the rides at the mini amusement park, which was part of the exhibition at the first ever Hhohho Regional Trade Fair.

Mabuza is the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade.
The minister announced that he would sponsor the 300 children on a first come first served basis. This happened on Saturday when he officially launched the trade fair under the theme ‘EITF 50 Years of Connecting Traders: Celebrating with the Regions’.
Tickets cost E10 per child, per ride.

Rides included swing chairs, merry-go-rounds, circular rides and many others, including cycle carts.
The show attracted children from around the region.

Noteworthy is that many children were excited about the rides, though their parents appeared to be afraid on their behalf. This was visible especially during the circular ride, which is often not a good idea for people prone to feel nauseous after spinning.
The throngs of children rushed for the ride after the announcement was made that the first 300 would go for free.

There were a few glitches, however, particularly when there was a power failure, which resulted in some of the machines stopping.
Terrified children were slowly removed manually but this did not stop the fun from continuing.
