MAN SENTENCED 45 YEARS FOR DOUBLE RAPE

MANZINI- Raping two women who are scholars has led to a man being sentenced to 45 years imprisonment without an option of a fine by the court.

However, Sibusiso Musa Mnisi (45) of Ekutsimuleni will only serve 35 years as Principal Magistrate, David Khumalo ordered that the other robbery sentences would run concurrently. One of the rape victims, *Katie (21) told the court that she was headed for school when she met up with the accused person, who later raped her. She said after greeting the accused, he walked on the opposite direction.

Katie said when she later took a route leading to her school, the accused pursued her and went through the forests.
“I tried to shout for help but the accused produced a knife and threatened to kill me. He placed it on my neck and ordered me to keep quiet, failing which he would stab me.”

“He then pulled me by the arm and dragged me to the thick forests. When we reached a certain spot, he ordered me to remove my underwear and lie down, and raped me without protection,” Katie said.
The complainant further told the court that the accused also ordered her to remove her shirt as it had bloodstains. She mentioned that the suspect had cut her at the back of the neck and hands with the knife.

“The accused informed me that the shirt could be used as evidence for the rape case.
“He took the shirt after raping me and escaped into the thick bushes. While walking out of the thick forests, I met up with one of my teachers who immediately contacted the police,” Katie said. She said after the accused had been arrested, she was called to the police station where she positively identified him and also her shirt which she had previously marked with a marking pen.
