MBABANE – Commissioner General of His Majesty’s Correctional Services Isaiah Mzuthini Ntshangase has promoted 172 officers.

These officers have been promoted to the different positions within the ranks of the correctional services department. The promotions were with effect from yesterday. Ntshangase highlighted that some of the promotions were a result of officers who had reached the mandatory retirement age from the service, passed away and those who sought greener pastures.

“Elevating officers to higher ranks is part of the department’s objective attracting and retaining officers who possess the knowledge, values and necessary expertise to execute its mandate holistically,” the commissioner general mentioned.

He then applauded the newly-promoted officers and urged them to carry out their new duties in a competent manner. The commissioner general indicated that four officers were elevated from the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner to the rank of Chief Assistant Commissioner and these are; Davies Zwane, Phindile Sibandze, Lilly Motaung and Nomkhosi Maseko.

Ntshangase also promoted nine officers from the rank of assistant commissioner to the rank of senior assistant commissioner, while 14 officers have been promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendent.
There were 16 officers promoted from assistant superintendents to superintendents and 20 were promoted from chief officer to assistant superintendent.
