HUSBAND SCALDS WIFE WITH BOILING WATER OVER NOISE
MANZINI – A woman is currently admitted to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital after she was allegedly scalded with boiling water all over the body by her husband.
The woman, Thandeka Shongwe (26), said her husband, Sandile Vilakati (35) of Lushikishini, near Mankayane, woke up and switched on the radio which was loud, at around 5am, last Thursday.

She said she requested him to reduce the radio volume, however, Vilakati allegedly refused to do so, until she got infuriated and woke up to turn the volume down.
“When I did so, I went back to bed as it was still early, however, a few minutes later, my husband, who is also the father of my two children, came to me and emptied the contents of an electric kettle which had boiling water, all over my body.”
“I cried hysterically as I was in excruciating pain and asked him why he did that. Instead, he never answered or tried to help me. I immediately went outside to raise the alarm and other tenants tried pouring cold water on the severe injuries,” Shongwe said.
She was rushed to the RFM Hospital where she was attended to, had her whole body bandaged and later admitted to the Female Surgical Ward (Burnt Section).
Shongwe insists there were no marital issues between her and Vilakati, whom she has been married to for seven years.
“We fight like any normal couple, however, not to a point where he would assault me, I am still shocked and traumitised by the incident.

“When he is eventually released from jail, I would need answers and unless there is a medical report from the Psychiatric Hospital, I would never forgive him,” Shongwe said.
