NO STRESS – SNAT
MANZINI – “There is no stress about that.” This is what the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) outgoing Secretary General Zwelithini Mndzebele said about the intended implementation of the ‘no-work-no-pay’ rule.
Mndzebele said according to their understanding as a union, they had a recognition agreement with government, which meant that if they decided to call a meeting, their members should attend.
“We officially stopped our proposed strike as per the court ruling,” he said. However, Mndzebele said officially stopping the strike did not take away their right to call meetings for their members.
“This is our absolute right and we will enjoy it without fear,” he emphasised.
On another note, Mndzebele said they only took such statements as means of intimidating their members, which was something they would not allow to happen.
