LUTFO TO SCHOLARS: YOUR DESTINY IS IN YOUR OWN HANDS
MATSAPHA – In his first public address as an MP-elect, Lutfo Dlamini advised children that their destiny was within reach.
The newly-elected Ndzingeni Member of Parliament said this during Phumelele Private School Speech and Prize Giving Day, where he was a guest speaker, yesterday.
The event, which also marked the school’s Cultural Day was attended by parents and guardians of the pupils.
Before giving advice, Dlamini first told the approximately 300 pupils a story of a professor and his students.
Intellectual
“At a certain area, there was a professor or an intellectual who knew almost everything. When he arrived at a certain school, the students came up with an idea to prove that the professor did not know anything.
“They came with a bird which they hid .
“They then asked him if the bird was alive or not. Their intention was counter his response. If he answered to the affirmative, they planned to kill the bird and vice versa.
“Before responding, the professor studied the students then responded, ‘What I can tell you is that the life of the bird is in your hands’,” Dlamini said, much to the amusement of the learners.
He then advised that their future did not lie with teachers, friends, priests and parents, but it was in their hands.
Opportunity
Adding, Dlamini they should make use of the opportunity to learn because it was a once-off thing.
Earlier, the director of the school, Sabelo Mavuso, urged pupils to abstain from sex and drugs.
“Living a clean life bears good fruit. I’m a leaving testimony. I have been able to establish schools in Eswatini and Mozambique. I’m working on opening another in Durban, South Africa, soon,” he said.
When he started his business, Mavuso mentioned that many people doubted that it would prosper.
He then advised those who would be writing their final examinations next week to study hard.
