EX-SENATE HOPEFUL GETS SECURITY AFTER THREATS

MBABANE – Could the former Senate hopeful be in hiding following the revelation of some of the conversations she had with legislators with whom she exchanged cash for votes?

As the allegations of corruption by some of the legislators intensify, yesterday, the former aspiring senator’s phone had been switched off for the entire day. On several occasions when her number was dialled, it was not available on the network. The last call was made at 6:45pm. Information gathered from impeccable sources was that the former Senate hopeful feared for her life after she has been receiving numerous calls from unknown people who made threats to her. It has also been established from impeccable sources that security had been provided to ensure her safety following the threats.

According to the source, the former Senate hopeful was advised to keep low following the threats. On Monday, she reportedly used another unknown vehicle to disguise after learning that she was being followed. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati said her office had not received any formal report on intimidation from the ex-Senate hopeful. Vilakati, when pressed further on the matter and told that it was reported that the former Senate aspirant was offered security, she said it was allowed that she could approach officers to assist her when fearing for her life. Further, she said police offered security for special cases where there were threats which indicated that the life of someone could be in danger.
