NGABEZWENI – Ingatja had all reasons to celebrate when His Majesty King Mswati III commissioned them to fetch the sacred shrub (lusekwane) yesterday.

In his brief remarks through Indvuna Vacu Magongo, the monarch informed the young boys that the new road which connects Ngabezweni and Ludzidzini Royal Residence was complete.
The King said the completion of the road meant that Ingatja was free to use it during the course of the cultural event. The road comes with an advantage to the young boys as they would be marching under street lights. The new road has made the distance shorter as compared to the ancient days.

“The King has provided sneakers and T-shirts. The hour has come and you are urged to bring quality shrubs,” the King said.

vibrant, energetic boys
The vibrant and energetic young boys left Ngabezweni Royal Residence after 1pm wearing their sneakers provided by royalty. They marched to Esikhaleni Selusekwane under the protection of the three armed forces.
They were accompanied by the King and the warriors who endured it all.
Upon arrival at Masundvwini, the King opened the much anticipated Incwala song which is strictly for the prestigious event.

The singing of the song will end after the main Incwala day which will be held inside Ludzidzini Cattle Byre on Tuesday.
Also noted was that activities came to a standstill as members of the public sat next to the road to watch the regiment as it passed by. Some people disclosed that they left their places of residence just to see the King. They included the elderly who shouted ‘Bayethe!’ as the King’s regiment passed by.

The public was protected by the armed forces from some of the over excited Ingatja. The Ingatja is expected to deliver the shrubs before Their Majesties at Ludzidzini Cattle Byre this morning.
They will then relax at the camps until tomorrow where they will be commissioned to fetch the red leaves (imbondvo) which is used with the shrubs to cover the King’s enclosure (inhlambelo).
