FORD RANGER CHARITY DRAW REFUND CONFUSION

MBABANE – There is no light at the end of the tunnel for those hoping for refunds from Kwazi Foundation for participating in the charity raffle draw.

Having failed to deliver the grand prize Ford Ranger Wildtrak to the winner of the draw and promising to refund those who wanted their money back, the undertaking is also proving to be a headache.

The promise of refunds was made by Kwazi Masuku of Kwazi Foundation and this was published in yesterday’s Swazi News.  Firstly, some of the agents’ mobile phone numbers provided by the foundation that people have to call for the refunds are either not available on the MTN network or ring without being answered.

Secondly, those agents who answered their phones had no idea why their contact numbers had been given to the media to publish because they have not been given any money to pay back the aggrieved individuals. “Our numbers have been published without us being informed of such. We have since been informed by the foundation that we are supposed to attend a meeting on Tuesday. We don’t know what the meeting is about,” said one of the agents before abruptly terminating the call.

A second agent said he was just clueless about the refunds and was surprised to see his name and phone number on the newspaper. “I immediately contacted Kwazi and asked him why he was involving us in this issue because our contracts with the foundation lapsed on December 20. His response was that he did not know why our names had been published because only those agents who were supposed to process the refunds should have their names published,” he said.

agents paid fare share

The agent said his engagement with the foundation was to sell tickets and his payment was commission based. “I was paid E5 for every ticket I sold and I received all that was due to me so I don’t have anything to do with Kwazi Foundation anymore. I am currently looking for employment,” stated the agent.
A third agent said she did not know how the refunds would be possible because as far as she knew, this was a charity initiative and did not know where Kwazi would get the money to pay back the aggrieved persons.

“We were agents and as far as we knew, we were doing a charity fundraising initiative and not running a competition. We have been called to a meeting and I don’t know where it will take place, but it will be for us agents and our bosses,” she said.
Besides the agents, the tickets for the raffle draw were also bought through MTN Eswatini’s mobile money platform. By yesterday night, the tickets were still available on the platform by dialling *007*3*12*2#.

The Senzo Gamedze debacle
Meanwhile, there is a Senzo Gamedze from Matsapha who participated in the Kwazi Foundation charity raffle draw and believes he could be the winner of the Ford Ranger Wildtrak grand prize.

However, he has not received a phone call from the foundation to confirm him as the lucky one. “I have been expecting a call from them but there has been none. I even tried to contact them myself but the phone numbers they provided in their posters are off,” he said.

He said the foundation should publish the phone number of the Senzo Gamedze who won the raffle draw so that those with this identity could know if they are the winners or not. Gamedze said even though he bought two tickets, he was hopeful that his name could be the one that was picked as the winner.

He wondered why the Senzo Gamedze who won was being hidden by the foundation because such was a big discomfort for them. “I might be the winner, but how will I know if they keep it secret? There is a question mark on the winner and it will remain so unless the person is identified,” he said.
Last week, this publication reported that there appeared to be a mystery regarding the purported winner of the vehicle because there is also a Senzo Gamedze who happens to be a close friend of the foundation’s Masuku.
There are also some pictures of this Senzo Gamedze and Masuku on the social media site where they are shown having fun, sometimes at popular entertainment places.
