LAVUMISA – A teenage girl allegedly hacked her husband on the neck with a bush knife because he didn’t want her to sleep very close to him in bed.

The 16-year-old girl was arguing with his 25-year-old husband over their sleeping position on the night in question when the enraged girl allegedly launched the brutal attack at her marital homestead, which is situated around Bulawayo in Lavumisa.
The husband, who was identified as Ndumiso Nkonyane, reportedly came back home drunk on the fateful day, and apparently wanted to sleep a considerable space apart from his wife because of his condition.
According to the police, the couple had an argument over the arrangement.

pushing

This was allegedly after the man kept pushing his 16-year-old wife away from him in bed until she exploded into a fit of rage and told the man she would not take it any longer because she had reached the edge of the bed.
It was at the height of that heated argument when the husband first beat up the teenage girl with an open hand.

The girl reportedly retaliated by slapping the man across the face as well, before she eventually picked up a bush knife and allegedly hacked her husband on both sides of the neck.
The teenager told detectives that she was holding the bush knife with both hands and used all her might to hack her husband, who instantly fell to the ground and started twitching while blood oozed from the neck.
Thereafter, she recalled that she went back to sleep, leaving her injured husband lying on the floor.

Then later at some point, she said she woke up and looked down on her man and saw him still lying in the same position she had left her.
The body was still sprawled on the ground with his clothes saturated in blood, which had also formed a pool under the body.

Cleaning

When the reality of her actions struck, the girl nervously picked herself up, took a bucketful of water, and began cleaning the mess in the middle of the night.
As soon as she finished cleaning, and fearing that she could be easily linked to her husband’s death, she wrapped up his corpse and dragged it to a pit latrine and went back to sleep.
However, after realising that the body could be easily spotted in the pit latrine she hurried back to retrieve it.

Then she further dragged the lifeless body away before she threw it into a rubbish pit situated a few metres away.
She later told the police she did all this quietly, only getting to rest halfway through next to the family poultry shed.

Then she went back to sleep until the following day where she washed all the bedding and clothes which had contact with the blood.
The girl told detectives that she hacked her husband with the bush knife because she could not take the physical abuse from him on the particular night any longer.

slapped

This was apparently after the man had slapped the girl across the face when she complained she could not shift away from him any longer because by then, she had already reached the edge of the bed, as the man kept insisting that he wanted the two of them to sleep wide apart from each other on that night.
The gruesome murder took place on the Tuesday of February 12, 2019.
