‘GAY’ PASTOR’S CHURCH SHUT DOWN
SIPHOFANENI - The troubled church of the pastor who is allegedly bisexual has been temporarily shut down.
As such, congregants have no place to worship the Lord and some reportedly remained home yesterday while others attended services in nearby churches.
According to some congregants, the bishop of the church ordered that the house of God should halt all operations while elders attempt to solve the leadership squabbles.
The bishop issued this order following an incident last Sunday, whereby police were called after a reportedly heated argument between the allegedly bisexual pastor and the church committee chairman.
“We have been told to stop attending services at the church while the leadership addresses the issues troubling the house of the Lord.
“In the meantime, congregants have been advised to fellowship in nearby churches,” said one of the church members.
He added that the bishop was expected to visit the church on March 16 (next Saturday) to meet the church committee, including the allegedly bisexual pastor.
The chairman of the church confirmed that there were currently no Sunday services or any other religious activities at the church pending the arrival of the bishop.
He said they were hopeful though that following the arrival of the bishop, the church would resume operations again.
Meanwhile, the allegedly bisexual pastor declined to comment when he was asked to confirm if indeed the church had temporarily shut down.
“Ngicela kungasho lutfo (May I please not say anything),” he said before ending the conversation.
The bishop of the church did not respond to calls made to his mobile phone but he later sent a text message and explained himself.
He explained, through the text message, that he was currently in neighbouring South Africa, adding that he could not respond to calls because of inadequate airtime.
He then referred questions to another elder of the church who is in the kingdom.
However, the elder flatly declined to respond to questions from this reporter, stating that it would be wrong and inappropriate to discuss the matter in the media while it was still with traditional authorities of the area.
Furthermore, he wondered who had given this reporter the full details of the matter.
“I suggest you get a comment from the people who gave you the story in the first place,” he stated.
