EX-TEACHER ASSAULTS EDUCATION OFFICIAL
MBABANE - A Ministry of Education and Training Investigating Officer, Knowledge Ngwenya, survived an attack when a retired teacher stormed the ministry’s offices last week.
Information gathered was that King Lokotfwako paid an authorised visit to the ministry and demanded that he be reinstated.
It is said that the former teacher made the demand despite the fact that he retired from the teaching profession after applying for an early retirement due to his condition.
Lokotfwako had one of his legs amputated after he was involved in a car accident some years ago. As a result, he walks with the aid of crutches. Upon his arrival at the ministry, he is said to have hurled insults, accusing the officials of discriminating against him.
Attention
While the official tried to give his attention to what was said by Lokotfwako, the former teacher is said to have pulled a stapler and threw it towards Ngwenya, who was hit at the back of his shoulder. He was subsequently arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Appearing before Mbabane Principal Magistrate Fikile Nhlabatsi, Lokotfwako pleaded guilty to the charge. Asked why he assaulted Ngwenya, he claimed that he (Ngwenya) ordered him out of class without following the right procedures. He was cautioned and discharged for assaulting Ngwenya.
Lokotfwako was also facing another charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, an offence which took place at the Mbabane Police Station. The charge sheet stated that Lokotfwako assaulted one Frank Mamba with his walking sticks several times on the left arm, causing him hurt and injuries. He pleaded guilty to the charge.
