MBABANE – Popular radio DJ, Lindelwa Mafa, angered social media users with her move of playing the controversial new song by Mampintsha.

During her morning show, the broadcaster at Eswatini Broadcasting Information Services (EBIS) surprised everyone when she decided to play the song titled ‘Kukhona iy’ngane la endlini’, a line which was picked from the video showing Mampintsha physically abusing popular gqom star Babes Wodumo.  The video went viral after it was shared by Babes Wodumo on Instagram and said Mampintsha was the man seen on the video abusing her by assaulting her with open hands. The outrage over the song started during the beginning of the week when South African social media users attacked DJ Tira, who was seen singing the song while driving his car.

The song was playing in the background while he and two females moved to the beat. This was in a short video that was shared by the famous DJ. The video left a bitter taste among social media users’ mouths as they extensively shared their disappointment. A similar situation played itself out in the country yesterday when the radio presenter well known as ‘Lindz’ was attacked by social media users for playing the controversial song on national radio.  Most active Twitter user, Fisiwe Vilane, acted as a whistleblower in this matter as she is the one who raised concerns over the song being aired on national radio.

Disappointment

Vilane did not mince any words as she shared her disappointment on one of the popular social media platforms, Twitter. In her post, the employee at one of the Telecommunications companies in the country, said ‘‘that new Mampintsha song is on SBIS 2 right now. Liphimbo lenu Eswatini. Am so disgusted,’ When contacted, the popular personality, who boasts over 3 000 followers on Twitter after joining in June 2009, said her intention was to stop the song from trending as it was distasteful, especially to other victims of domestic violence.
“She should not have played the song at all, because she had already talked about it. i understand she has to promote music but this was just offside because the vocals of the song were taken from the video where Babes Wodumo is being physically abused and you cannot entertain people with another woman’s tears,” she said.
