MEET TIMES’ SHINING STAR!
MBABANE - Hard work does pay off. This was evident yesterday when the Times of Swaziland staff congratulated Ashmond Nzima for being crowned Outstanding Sports Journalist during the National Sports Awards held at Esibayeni Lodge last Saturday.
Nzima was competing with Phathizwe Msibi from Eswatini Television Authority and Sibusiso Masilela from Swazi Observer.
The shining star was congratulated during the staff meeting, which is held every Wednesday, styled ‘Wisdom Wednesday’.
Congratulated
He was first congratulated by his colleagues from the various departments and therafter the management, which was represented by News Editor Cassandra Shaw.
In her address, Shaw cemented the company’s determination in celebrating the success of others. “Ashmond is our shining star and we want to celebrate him. The company has always taken a deliberate position to cheer on others and allowing our stars to shine, hence we celebrate him today. The award is no longer about Ashmond but the company as a whole. We are very proud of him for allowing us, as a company, to shine through him,” she said.
Departments
The Times of Swaziland departments include News Desk, Sports Desk, Entertainment Desk, Times SUNDAY, Swazi News, Sub Editors and Proofreading, who all appointed representatives to congratulate Nzima.
Nzima’s colleagues shared the same sentiments that he was a humble, hardworking and self-driven reporter, something which they believed contributed to his success.
He was encouraged to keep striving for excellence and broaden himself to understand all sport-related issues.
Nzima, who was emotional while being congratulated, was presented with a brand new microwave which was handed over to him by his colleagues from the Sports Department.
