MATSAPHA – Residents of New Village are reeling in shock after a body of a police officer was found dumped next to a road yesterday morning.
New Village is a township located halfway between two towns: Manzini and Matsapha.

It harbours mostly those who work at the industrial site in Matsapha as it provides cheap accommodation in the form of one-room flats.
Residents of the area came across the body of the law enforcer, who was lying motionless, next to the road.

The deceased is known to this publication but his name will not be revealed for now as his next of kin are yet to be informed of the tragedy.
The discovery was made at around 9am.

Circumstances leading to his death were not ascertained, but rumours were doing rounds that he was allegedly murdered and dumped in the area.
Information gathered from an impeccable source was that the police officer’s place of abode was Luve.
Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) personnel came to the scene and indentified him as one of their own.

Transported

They then transported his corpse away from the scene after they also disclosed that he was based at the Matsapha Police Academy.
The deceased was reported to be 37 years old. At the time of his death, he was wearing a navy blue jersey, khaki trousers and boots suspected to be the ones he used while in the line of duty.

He leaves behind a wife and two daughters, the eldest being eight years old, while the younger one is four years old.

When he was retrieved from the crime scene, no physical injuries could be immediately seen on him, save that blood was gushing profusely out of his ears.
There were also no visible traces of dirt on his clothes to suggest otherwise, except for a trail on the ground that indicated he may have been dragged along the path before he was dumped next to the road.
This scenario raised curiosity and mystery surrounding those who live in the area.

Suspicion

What made the death of the officer even more mysterious, according to some of those who were first to get to the scene, was the fact that despite suspicion that his body was dumped during the night, people who were passing by only discovered his body at around 9am.
