MANZINI - Farmers were treated to a provocative and life-changing experience during the last day of the Cold Chain Summit Eswatini.

Testament to that was the response obtained from a number of farmers who said they had been exposed to a transformational session during the summit.
The summit was held at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre.

Ruth Ndzimandze, whose specialty is piggery, dairy and poultry farming, said what prompted her to attend the summit was her zeal to obtain knowledge on foreign markets.

This, she said, included the expertise of transporting her products to foreign markets.  She disclosed that during the summit, she mastered how to transport her products to foreign countries, including who to contact whenever she intended to transport her products.

She also mentioned that during the summit she learnt the significance of keeping records when conducting her business on a day-to-day basis.

Tendency

“They pointed out during that we must cultivate the tendency of keeping records in our agri-businesses as it would assist us to keep track of whether or not we are making a profit or a loss,” she said.
Ndzimandze said she was exposed to a new innovation, namely air cargo innovation, during the summit.

She elaborated that she learnt that through that innovation one could be in a position to transport her products to foreign countries through an aircraft that had a cold room storage to ensure that the products reached the market fresh.

She further elaborated that she also had the privilege to have access to solar panel innovation which could be used for pumping water, facilitating cold storage and for electrical purposes.

She urged women who have ventured into farming to unite, as this would make it easier for them to combat any predicaments they faced.
She said the Prime Minister, Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini’s declaration that government aimed to generate over 20 000 jobs in the agricultural sector within the next three years would be a possibility if water supply issues were addressed.
