DPM WANTS ACTION ON SENIOR MAGISTRATE’S MATTER

MBABANE - Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Themba Masuku has advised law enforcers to act on the issue of the senior magistrate who allegedly beat his wife.

This, he said, was if the allegations were true.
Masuku said this through a statement yesterday, which was to the effect that the justice system should find a remedy, stating that all people in positions of responsibility must display responsibility and must be above reproach.

The magistrate, who allegedly beat his wife, will not be named as no case has been opened against him yet.

Criminal

Masuku said beating a wife was not a sign of love but one of criminal tendencies which the society could do without. 
“If this is true, the law enforcement system, especially the Judiciary, must find remedy otherwise violence in this country cannot be curtailed,” he said.
The DPM further mentioned that such acts violence badly tarnished the image of the country and made a mockery of the justice system.
He reiterated that the image of the system ought to be totally protected.

He said what was particularly disturbing was that the bashing had allegedly been administered by one senior officer of the law enforcement system whose responsibility was to first and foremost, enforce the law by discovering, rehabilitating or punishing people who violated the rules and norms.
He added that the judicial officer’s duty was to govern society. 

Confident

Masuku went on to state that if the allegations were true, he prayed that the law would take its course and added that he believed that it would, because he had confidence in the justice system.

Masuku stated that the SODV Act was clear and was expected to be implemented accordingly.
The DPM invited all emaSwati to stand together and reject violence.
