BETHANY - In a rather shocking incident, a businesswoman was robbed of money amounting to E25 000 at gunpoint by unknown men.

This shocking incident occurred at Bethany situated in the Manzini Region   on Tuesday at around 7:30pm. Information gathered was that the businesswoman was allegedly coming back from collecting the daily takings from her two shops situated at Kakhoza and Matsapha when the incident occurred. On her  way  back from her shops, the  businesswoman,  whose identity cannot be revealed for safety reasons, had  the shock  of  her  life  when  she found  a strange car parked  right  in the middle  of  the road adjacent  to the gate leading to her compound.

Problems

It was gathered that the robbers parked  the car in  a manner that  suggested  that  it had  developed  some  mechanical  problems  because  its  bonnet  was wide  open  and one of the robbers  leaned  over towards  the engine,  pretending  as if he was fixing  the car while his two  accomplices  looked  on. As soon as the businesswoman drew  closer, she pleaded  with the crew  to make  way  for her to which  they responded  by asking  her if she was not cognizant  of the fact that  the car had  developed some  mechanical faults and, as a result,  they were trying to fix it. While she was still interacting with the robbers, one of them allegedly drew a gun and smashed the driver’s window before ordering her to lower it down.

It was said that the woman had no other alternative but to comply with the robber’s directive as she lowered the window because she feared for her life. Soon after lowering the window, it was gathered, the man who was carrying the gun instructed her to open the door, which she did. It was said that soon after opening the door, the man together with his two partners in crime then came on board in the car forcing her to sit in between the two of them while the other one took over the steering wheel and proceeded towards the businesswoman’s homestead.
After realising that her employer’s car was at the gate, the businessman’s helper opened the gate with a remote control like she normally does on a daily basis. The helper said upon gaining entry the three men alighted from the car and at first she suspected that something was amiss because her employer seldom came home in the company of strangers.
