Yuki' blasts local players!

DURBAN – National team, Sihlangu long serving player, Dennis ‘Yuki’ Masina has attributed the humiliating 6-2 loss to South Africa’s Bafana Bafana to the local based players hero-worshipping the opposition players.
Masina told the South African press in a post-match interview that the locals always see the stars on television and as a result froze at the Chatsworth Stadium.
“They always see these players on television and were afraid of them as most of the players in the squad play in Swaziland. Another thing the three goals were quick and destroyed our confidence,” he said.
Masina said overall it was a good game and they learnt a lot from playing the World Cup host, South Africa.
He said he hopes the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) keeps the squad active in preparation for the next tournament, the Africa Cup Championships (CHAN).
“There are some youngsters in the team and they can be groomed. It’s bad to lose by such a huge margin but we need to pick ourselves up and forge ahead,” he said.
Masina put up a sterling performance with a lion-hearted commitment and crowned it with a sublime goal after playing a one-two with first half substitute and Jomo Cosmos striker, Mfana’futhi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe which made the score 3-1 at half time. Siza ‘King Pele’ Dlamini, who scored the squads second goal in the 2-6 demolition, said the defeat was painful.
“We prepared well and confidence was high in training but on the day of the game I don’t know where it all went wrong. They just killed us,” the Jomo Cosmos striker said.
Bafana Bafana head coach, Carlos Alberto Perreira fielded two squads – one captained by Orlando Pirates midfielder, Teko Modise which raced to a 3-0 lead in the first half before the second squad captained by Mamelodi Sundowns defender, Matthew Booth completed the rout in the second half, handing the nation’s pride the second heaviest defeat – after the 6-0 loss away to Togo – under the guidance of former Bafana Bafana coach, Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba.
