GOVT TO ASSIST BUSINESSPEOPLE ON CHINA VISA
MBABANE – After all has been said and done, government has opened its doors for businesspeople who have concerns about getting their visas approved at the Chinese Embassy in Pretoria.
With businesspeople crying foul that they were not being assisted in getting their visas approved at the Chinese Embassy in Pretoria, government has come out to advise them to register their concerning with local federations.
The businesspeople have, in the past few days, been on panic mode following news that Mainland China was not giving assistance to emaSwati who wished to travel to the Eastern Asia country.
In a press statement issued last night, the Government of Eswatini stated that in light of the ongoing concerns regarding trade with Mainland China, it was advising businesspeople in the kingdom to register their concerns with their respective business federations in the country.
“Government is having consultative engagements with the two major business federations, Business Eswatini and the Federation of Eswatini Business Community (FESBC).
Positioned
“Both federations are well positioned to advise government on the issues that their members will register with respect to trade with Mainland China,” reads part of the press statement which was issued by Deputy Government Spokesperson Sabelo Dlamini.
It should be noted that when the issue was first reported by this publication, government, through the Prime Minister, Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, advised the nation that there was no need to panic and highlighted that the only visa centre where emaSwati should apply was the Chinese Embassy in Pretoria and not Sandton or elsewhere.
However, businesspeople maintained that they had encountered challenges in Pretoria as well.
In the press statement issued yesterday, government emphasised that it was encouraging members of the two federations to register their concerns with their respective organisations, who in turn will engage it (government) with the view to find solutions.
It was further stated in the statement that businesspersons who may not be belonging to any association or federation were urged to register their concerns with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade through the SME Unit.
They were urged to contact the number 2404 3201/2/3/4/5/6 or Sibonginkosi Mavuso at 7614 0485.
“The Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini remains committed to providing all the necessary support to business in line with its mandate of creating a conducive environment for business growth,” it was emphasised in the statement.
