2 594 PUPILS CURRENTLY QUALIFY FOR UNESWA ENTRY

MBABANE - A total of 2 594 pupils currently qualify for entry at the University of Eswatini.  According to the results which were released yesterday, the pupils passed with an A* - C in five or more subjects including English Language.


Despite the Ministry of Education and Training announcing that English was no longer a passing subject, some tertiary institutions, particularly UNESWA (Kwaluseni), still require the pupils to pass English Language.
The ministry said the 2 594 pupils who aced the subjects including English, equated to a percentage of 16.97 per cent.


The 2019 candidates with the score of A*- C in five or more subjects, including English Language, showed an increase of 1.96 per cent when compared to 2018. It was further reported that candidates who passed and scored A* - G in  four or more subjects including English Language were 91.66 per cent and among these were some who will qualify for tertiary education in some of the institutions of higher learning in and outside the country. 

       
SUMMARY OF EGCSE RESULTS  
The EGCSE subjects examined in 2019 were 17.


The overall pass rate was 92.77 per cent which is an increase of 0.96 per cent when compared to the overall 2018 pass rate.
A  total of 20 002 sat for the 2019 examinations.
The number of private candidates in 2019 was 4 719.


 A total of 10 781 females sat for the exams with males being 9 221.
In 2019, 2 594 (16.97 per cent) candidates passed with (A*- C) in five or more subjects including English Language.
The number of candidates who passed and scored A* - G in four or more subjects including English was 91.66 per cent.
