HEAVEN STILL OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Sir,

We are living in anxious times; we have all been affected by the coronavirus outbreak and the whole world is going through this time of enforced social distancing and isolation. But as we self-isolate, distance ourselves from others and generally stay at home, let us remember that heaven is still open for business.

Worldwide, over three billion people have been asked or ordered to self-isolate and quarantine due to the coronavirus. Many businesses are temporarily closed. While much of our nation and community are not open for business, I assure you that God is still on the throne - and He can hear our prayers. Heaven is very much open to those who will call on the name of the Lord through Jesus Christ.

Shaken

The coronavirus pandemic has shaken the whole of humanity. Schools are closed and pupils are at home. Each day the death toll rises across the globe. When it will all end is uncertain. But while life may be incredibly difficult right now, we must remember that the love of Jesus cannot be quarantined.

We can experience His love and share it with others during this time. Through Jesus Christ, we are told that we may come boldly before the throne of grace to receive mercy and grace in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16). The blood of Jesus Christ ensures that heaven will always remain open. Our sins have been dealt with and we will never be shut out of the presence of God once we trust Jesus Christ. He is the way, and He made a way for us to come to the Father. The mercies of Christ ensure that we have a rightful and welcome place at God’s throne, and that the Father welcomes us in prayer.

Promises

As you self-isolate, remember these great promises from God about prayer: “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you” (Jeremiah 29:12). “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18). “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:16). “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14). Heaven will not be closing any time soon. Call upon Him. We need Him as a refuge, a comfort, a provider, a hope and much more in this season. Call upon Him!

Prayer

Let us always remember that after washing our hands, let us remember to hold them together in prayer. While stocking our stores with enough food, we must remember to stock our hearts with enough Holy Spirit. And as we isolate ourselves from contaminated people, let us also isolate ourselves from sin.

Even though we don’t understand what’s going on and why, we can still try and see what God is doing in our lives and the lives of our friends. It’s not all bleak. We have a chance to connect deeper with friends and family than ever before. We have a chance to be generous, kind and positive; in a time of darkness, we can continue to shine God’s light.
