3 NEW CASES, TOTAL NOW STANDS AT 175
MBABANE - There are three new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 175 in the country.
This was according to the Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi, in a statement released yesterday. She stated that there were 100 tests results that were received and of them, 97 were negative.
All the three new cases are from the Manzini Region.
They are all females aged 19, 20 and 26 years. Of the three, two presented with mild symptoms and one was asymptomatic. The minister stated that they had reinforced measures as they had increased the number of Rapid Response Teams (RRT) from two to three for Manzini and Hhohho regions.
She said the activities around contact tracing, through the RRTs, also had an impact on the case finding in the different regions. Meanwhile, the minister stated that results were showing an upward trend in new cases.
“Factors impacting the trend include the laboratory result turnaround time, new case finding through contact tracing, screening, swab collection and sample transportation activities at regional and facility levels,” she said. Nkosi said the effectiveness of all the above mentioned was very vital for producing a trend which would be directly proportional to the Eswatini epidemic curve.
