2 MORE DEATHS, 109 NEW CASES

MBABABE – Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi has reported two more deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the total to 34 in the country.
The first death was that of a 66-year-old woman from the Manzini Region.


According to the minister, she was presented in one of the country’s hospitals on July 24, 2020 with severe respiratory symptoms. She was admitted as a COVID-19 suspect and treated under isolation. The minister said the deceased’s results came back positive but died while undergoing treatment.


The second death was of a 41-year-old man who, according to the minister, had known pre-existing health conditions.  She explained that the deceased was tested on July, 15, 2020 for COVID-19 and the results received the following day came back positive.
She said his condition deteriorated and he passed away on July 25.


Meanwhile, the country recorded 109 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday out of 409 tested conducted yesterday.
Manzini had 48 cases while Hhohho had 42 and Shiselweni had 19.


Also, 66 of the cases were asymptomatic while 42 presented with mild symptoms and only one was moderate.
By gender, the total number of confirmed female cases is 1237 while males are 1079. This means that the total number of confirmed cases in the country is 2316. There were 39 new recoveries that were registered yesterday, bringing the total to 1025 in the country. This means that active cases are 1287 in the country.
