3 NEW DEATHS BRING TOTAL TO 76

MBABANE – The country has recorded three new COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the total to 76. 

The deaths were confirmed by the Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi, yesterday. Two deaths were from the Hhohho Region while one was from Lubombo. 

This is the first death to be reported in the Lubombo Region since the first COVID-19 death was registered. All the deceased were males. 

The first death was that of a 72-year-old man from the Lubombo Region, who died last Saturday, while being attended to on arrival at a health facility. The minister said the deceased was later confirmed to be COVID-19 positive. 

The second death was of an 80-year-old man from the Hhohho Region, who also died last Saturday in one of the health facilities after presenting with a preexisting condition, according to the minister.

He was later confirmed to be COVID-19 positive. 

The last registered death was of an 83-year-old man from Hhohho Region. 

He died on August 13, 2020 while undergoing treatment as a confirmed COVID-19 patient. He, according to the minister, had known co-morbidities.

Meanwhile, the country recorded 95 new cases of COVID-19. This means that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country is 3 989. 

Hhohho Region had the highest cases as it recorded 41, followed by Manzini with 40, while Shiselweni had nine and five were from the Lubombo Region. 

 From the confirmed cases, 16 were asymptomatic, 69 presented with a mild disease while eight were moderate and two had severe symptoms. 

Both age brackets one to nine and 80 years and above had a case. 

There were 216 new recoveries yesterday, bringing the total to 2 587. This means that current active cases are 1 326.
