MANZINI – The woman alleged to have killed her two-year-old daughter claims the father of the minor denied paternity.

Nontsikelelo Sibandze (26) of Ludzeludze is alleged to have said this when making a confession at the Manzini Magistrates Court.
This was prior to making her appearance yesterday in the same court on charges of murder. Sibandze stands accused of brutally murdering her two-year old daughter last Thursday.
She is alleged to have wrapped the minor in masking tape and left her for dead in an abandoned house near the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre.

In her confession, she is alleged to have informed the Judicial officer that she went to the father of her child’s parental home at Ludzeludze, where she approached him to contribute towards the maintenance and welfare of their child.
However, the father of her child allegedly denied paternity, stating that he did not recognise the minor as his own, as alleged in the confession.

Confession

She is said to have informed the judicial officer that she was in emotional pain after the father of her child denied paternity.
“That is when I went to purchase masking tape and an industrial plastic bag from a nearby supermarket with the intention to end the toddler’s life,” reads part of her confession, which is yet to be submitted in court as part of evidence in the murder case.

Sibandze is said to have further informed the judicial officer that she was remorseful for her actions; however as an unemployed mother, she had no choice but to commit the offence.
“I regret my actions which I can no longer take back. I am so sorry,” she is alleged to have said.
