REV. MAZIBUKO PAYS LOBOLA, WEDDING DATE UNKNOWN
MBABANE – Reverend Johannes Mazibuko moved a step closer to marrying his fiancée Thulile Dlamini.
This is due to the fact that the Mbabane Alliance senior pastor paid dowry (lobola) to the family of Thulile at Sandla in Mbabane. The private event was attended by Reverend Mazibuko’s family, certain church members and prominent figures who included Dr Phil Mnisi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Eswatini Sugar Association, Phiwa Ginindza, Zweli Jele, a senior attorney based in Mbabane.
Jerome Shiba, the Chairman of the Mbabane Alliance Church, also came to support his leader as he was the master of ceremonies while Reverend Themba Dlamini, the Pastor of Africa Evangelical Church (AEC) preached the word of God. Reverend Dlamini is the former principal of the Swaziland College of Technology (SCOT), which is now known as ECOT (Eswatini College of Technology).
It must be said that Mazibuko’s biological brothers and sisters were there to give support as well. He was in a jovial mood and all those who were present were happy as they laughed in unison and enjoyed braaied meat while braving the scorching sun by quenching thirst with traditional soft drink (emahewu). A tent was pitched in the family’s yard where a service was held, and it is where lunch was served as well. The table-setting theme (white) set the mood at the lobola ceremony. Mazibuko and his fiancée were dressed in matching white and dark green African print material, with a touch of lime, which was specially designed for them.
Dlaminis accept bride price
Dr Phil Mnisi, who was delegated to speak on behalf of the couple, said they were happy the Dlaminis accepted what they offered to them as a bride price. Dr Mnisi, the Senior Pastor of His Harvest Fellowship Church, said they were not in a position to disclose the number of cattle that were offered to Reverend Mazibuko’s in-laws. He said the lobola ceremony went according to plan. The pastor said the ceremony was meant to strengthen relationships between the two families. He mentioned that the exact date for the wedding had not yet been fixed but the marriage could be solemnised in a few months.
