19 NEW COVID-19 CASES OUT OF 493 TESTS
MBABANE – The number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased by 19.
This was revealed yesterday in a statement issued by Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi, who said out of 493 people who were tested, 19 were confirmed to have contracted the virus.
She said the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases to date was 6 474. The minister disclosed that recovered cases were 6 044, while active cases were 289. The highest numbers of infected age groups was from the ages of 30 to 39, with six cases. Nkosi stated that the COVID-19 pandemic curve had peaked and then showed signs of being on the decline.
“However, the coronavirus is still circulating in the country. Until a definitive treatment or vaccine for COVID-19 is found, another exponential increase in number of cases is still possible if prevention measures are abandoned by the nation,” the minister warned.
She further mentioned that their goal as ministry was to continue to halt the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the deaths associated with it. She said achieving this goal called for a collective effort. The minister articulated that every individual had a role to play in protecting themselves, their families, their communities and the nation from the virus.
