MBABANE – Following the declaration of the second wave, government has recalled security forces to ensure that the amended COVID-19 regulations are followed.

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku, who is the current head of government, confirmed that everyone in the country’s security forces; Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) and His Majesty’s Correctional Services would be visible in all corners of the country. Masuku said they would continue enforcing the law by deploying the security forces all over the country. He said when the COVID-19 positive cases declined, everybody went back to their workstation but following the increased numbers, more security forces would be seen protecting people.

“It is so sad that people should first be arrested to save their own lives. There is no need for this but as a country we have to do it as people do not listen,” he said. Masuku said people should not rely on the security forces to save their lives. He noted that they had been struggling with drinking spots as people continued to drink irresponsibly. Masuku said they would do anything as government to control the public and ensure that they followed the regulations.
