COMMUNITY PAYS PROPHET E25 000 TO FIND CHILD
NHLANGANO – Following the unresolved cases of missing children, a community has contributed E25 000 to pay a ‘prophet’ who wants to assist them find a minors who went missing a year ago.
The child went missing at Mpatheni in Hlatikhulu and he was three years old.
The minor had been left by his mother together with two other children as she went to pick firewood in a bush.
The mother was later reported to have called out the two other children to come and assist her with the firewood. After about 10 minutes, they returned back to find the three-year-old missing.
The community has been contributing the money after being informed that the ‘prophet’ could assist them locate the minor.
The money was handed over to the prophet last Wednesday.
Justice
By Saturday, it was stated that the ‘prophet’ had pointed out a spot where a black goat had been buried as means to defeat the ends of justice in the case.
The goat was dug out and it was in a pink sack. In the same grave was a big black cloth and six long nails.
Following the discovery, the ‘prophet’ is said to be busy with other rituals to locate the minor, who is believed to have passed on.
The ‘prophet’ is said to have told the community members that the suspects would, individually, confess to the crimes once they find the remains of the child.
It was stated that the ‘prophet’ has shown them where the child was buried. However, one of the implicated people, believed to be a law enforcer, is alleged to have stopped the community members while they were on their way to where the minor is alleged to have been buried.
“This is when we got to learn that they had informants among us. Also, the prophet’s car was stopped by unknown people on his way back after the directive from the officer to stop,” narrated one Nzima who spoke on behalf of the community members.
He stated that more than anything, they contributed the money because they wanted the people to be exposed, especially because with four other children of the area who went missing, fingers were being pointed to the same people.
Investigations
He said the worst part was that police investigations never yielded positive results each time there was a missing person in the area.
A close family member who identified himself as Musa Ndlangamandla stated that they wanted closure on the whereabouts of the minor. He stated that though it was hard, they had accepted that the child was murdered as it has been the case with other missing children in the area.
“We wish to at least get his remains so that he could be buried properly,” he said.
The ‘prophet’ requested not to comment on the issue as he claimed it was against his work ethic.
Information sourced from the community members was that the child in question was the fourth to go missing in the area.
Two have not been found to date while the others were discovered dead. Also, the two minors who went missing at Buseleni in Nyanyali on Christmas Eve are still missing. Police have not arrested any suspects so far.
Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer Inspector Nosipho Mnguni said the child was still missing.
She requested members of the public to inform them should they have information on the whereabouts of the child or information that would assist in the case.
Mnguni said there never gets to be a time when a random officer of the law would order people to stop when doing something. “If the police have a communication to pass through to the community, the officer handling the case would be the relevant person to do so,” she said.
