KINGPIN IN VICTOR MURDER EXECUTED IN SA
MBABANE - Farouk Meyer, the alleged notorious South African underworld boss who reportedly orchestrated the plan to kill businessman Victor Gamedze, has been shot dead execution-style.
Coincidentally, Farouk, who was also a businessman, died almost the same way Gamedze was killed in cold blood at Ezulwini on January 14, 2018. Farouk was shot on Monday evening at Eldorado Park. It has been established from an impeccable source in the Republic of South Africa that Eswatini had made a request for a statement from Farouk and other potential witnesses, through the mutual legal assistance, which is still pending, regarding the matter. His statement could have given direction to the Crown whether he could be a potential witness or an accomplice witness in the Gamedze murder case.
Gunmen
According to eNCA, Farouk was in a car with another person in the suburb when gunmen opened fire with a high calibre assault rifle. The driver, according to the news channel, was reportedly pronounced dead on the scene while Farouk died a short while later in hospital. Police are reportedly still searching for his killers. Gauteng Police Spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters is quoted to have said that according to preliminary reports at the disposal of the police, a witness heard gunshots and upon investigation, noticed a vehicle riddled with bullets. Farourk, as per the evidence that has been presented in court so far, was a close friend of Sipho Shongwe, the man who stands accused of having a hand in the murder of Gamedze. During the trial, the court heard that it was at Farouk’s residence where the plan to kill Gamedze was allegedly hatched and he was behind organising the hitmen allegedly on behalf of Shongwe.
Throughout the trial, Farouk’s name has been repeatedly mentioned by accomplice witness Siphiwe ‘Tata’ Ngubane. He is alleged to be the one who organised Mbuso ‘Ncaza’ Nkosi for the ‘job’ to kill Gamedze on behalf of Shongwe. According to the evidence that was presented in court, he was also the one who allegedly organised a female advocate to allegedly convince Nkosi and Ngubane not to testify against Shongwe and to change statements. News of Farouk’s death was reported in most South African media platforms and was described as an Eldorado Park gang boss and businessman. His death has also been reported to the Crown. Ngubane yesterday informed the court that Farouk was a very notorious man in South Africa. This was after he was asked who Farouk was by Advocate Laurence Hodes, who is representing Shongwe.
