MBABANE – A 20-year-old man of Matsanjeni was allegedly shot and killed by law enforcers during the protests for political change.

Sifiso Mngomezulu was shot during a protest in Nhlangano. His death was confirmed by his family and friends. A family member said they were still shocked by the death of their loved one. He was allegedly shot last  Tuesday during the day while partaking in the protest. “We are hurting at the killing of our people by the security forces. It is not right and now we have lost a son and friend,” said the family member. Another, who was allegedly shot during the ongoing protests, was Machawe Mhlanga of Hilltop.
Sources said he was shot in broad daylight around Hilltop, allegedly by soldiers. Mhlanga was part of the protesting people at Mahwalala when he got shot.

Marshal

A bus rank marshal, who worked closely with Mhlanga, said the deceased was active in the call for democratic change in the country. “He was for the struggle and wanted freedom, but he still did not deserve to die like that. “We have gone to his family to pay our respects and they are still grieving and hurt,” said the marshall. From the unidentified nine persons on the list of the deceased people, one Sifiso Sibiya of Nsoko has been identified. Sibiya was shot in the foot while trying to run away from police officers at Lubulini during a protest. “The youth should continue fighting and not stop. The police cannot kill in vain. His blood must speak now,” said a family member during an interview. So far, this publication has identified 14 people who allegedly died at the hands of law enforcers.  Each day, we will be giving an updated list of the deceased persons, where and when they were shot and the next of kin confirming their demise.
